Privacy policy
The short version
Every test on this site runs inside your own browser. Audio, video and input from your devices is measured on your machine and never sent to us. We don’t have a server that could receive it, and we don’t want one.
Separately from the tests, this site uses Google Analytics to count visits and Google AdSense to show ads. Both are run by Google, both set cookies, and both are described below.
Your microphone, camera and other devices
When a test needs a device, your browser asks your permission first. If you allow it, the data from that device is read by code running on your computer or phone, held in memory there, and discarded when you close or reload the page. Recordings you make are kept only in that memory. If you download a clip or a report, the file is written by your browser directly to your device.
Permission is requested only for the device the tool actually tests, and you can withdraw it at any time through your browser settings or by stopping the test on the page. None of this reaches Google, us, or anyone else.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit and which pages they use. It sets cookies and records things like the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, your browser and device type, and how you arrived. It does not receive anything your microphone, camera or keyboard produced.
Google acts as a data processor for this, under Google’s privacy policy. You can opt out across every site with Google’s browser add-on.
Advertising
This site carries ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads, and may use your earlier visits to this and other sites to choose which ads you see. That is what personalized advertising means.
You can turn personalized ads off at My Ad Center, and manage cookies from other vendors at aboutads.info. Turning them off doesn’t remove the ads, it only stops them being tailored to you.
Cookies and consent
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, nothing is stored until you say so. No analytics cookie is set when the page loads, and a short notice asks whether you want to allow one. Accept and the cookie is set. Reject and none is, any that already exists is deleted, and you are not asked again. Visits are still counted either way, without a cookie. Everywhere else, the cookies described above are set when the page loads.
What we store on your device
One preference is saved in your browser’s local storage: whether you chose light, dark or automatic appearance. It stays on your device, is never sent anywhere, and is removed if you clear your browser data.
The cookies described above are set by Google, not by us, and are separate from that.
Hosting
The site is served as static files by Cloudflare. Like any web host, the provider may keep short-lived technical logs such as IP addresses and requested URLs for security and reliability. We don’t use those logs to identify individuals.
Your rights
Depending where you live you may have the right to see what data has been collected about you, correct it, delete it, or object to it being used. Because the only personal data involved sits with Google rather than with us, the fastest route is usually your Google account controls. If you would rather ask us, use the contact page and we will help.
We hold no account, email or payment data, because there is nothing here to sign up for.
Children
This site is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age.
